Title: Wonder Pdf
It all came down to me.

The one who followed the rules, never went looking for trouble – I kept to myself. I just wanted to take care of my family. To not constantly look over my shoulder, worried about the things that went bump in the night.

I just wanted to survive.

But that wasn’t meant to be.

As luck – or fate, or something – would have it, the trouble found me.

I followed a rabbit through the wreckage of a half-ruined world to get back what was mine, and wound up at the end of it.

In Wonderland.

But there’s nothing magical about it.

(While Wonder does feature a central love story, it is not a contemporary romance novel)

Creative, entertaining, and well-written This is a post-apocalyptic, fairytale based, romance. If you think that sounds like it wouldn’t work, you’d be WRONG!!! This was somehow Alice in Wonderland meets the Hunger Games meets An Unkindness of Ghosts, all with an underlying romance. It was amazing. I’d suggest you do the following immediately:1. Get this book.2. Read it.3. Immerse yourself in the world created.4. Bask in the glory of Christina’s talent.5. Join me in praying for a book 2.6. Repeat as necessary. Is there gonna be a second book to this story? I loved your version of Alice in wonderland! The way it ends In an hoping you continue with your story! If so I can't wait for the next story.....Blown Away! OMG!!! Make this a series! Please, pretty please with cherries on top. I was a little skeptical because this is outside of your past stories. But I quickly threw skepticism out the window. Loved the flow, the characters, action, and love. I hope this is the beginning of a new series.

The New York Times bestseller and Reese Witherspoon Book Club pick

"This love story between Lucy & Gabe spans decades and continents as two star-crossed lovers try to return to each other...Will they ever meet again? This book kept me up at night, turning the pages to find out, and the ending did not disappoint."--Reese Witherspoon

"One Day meets Me Before You meets your weekender bag."--The Skimm

"Extraordinary."--Emily Giffin

He was the first person to inspire her, to move her, to truly understand her. Was he meant to be the last?

Lucy is faced with a life-altering choice. But before she can make her decision, she must start her story--their story--at the very beginning.

Lucy and Gabe meet as seniors at Columbia University on a day that changes both of their lives forever. Together, they decide they want their lives to mean something, to matter. When they meet again a year later, it seems fated--perhaps they'll find life's meaning in each other. But then Gabe becomes a photojournalist assigned to the Middle East and Lucy pursues a career in New York. What follows is a thirteen-year journey of dreams, desires, jealousies, betrayals, and, ultimately, of love. Was it fate that brought them together? Is it choice that has kept them away? Their journey takes Lucy and Gabe continents apart, but never out of each other's hearts.

This devastatingly romantic debut novel about the enduring power of first love, with a shocking, unforgettable ending, is Love Story for a new generation.

"It's the epic love story of 2017."--Redbook

Disappointing Massively disappointed that theskimm has highly recommended this novel. While the writing style and voice are authentic, the main characters are hardly likable, borderline annoying - one is a self-absorbed romanticist with a life-long daddy issue; another is an unappreciative, narrow-visioned wannabe feminist who's hopelessly unaware of her own selfishness and her lack of responsibility in the name of pursuing "true love". I did not cry; I did not laugh; the storyline is so predictable that I had hoped that there'd be this amazing twist at the end. Well, that never happened. I almost got angry that I wasted my entire train ride on this frustrating tale between two reckless and childish fictional lovers. Not worth it.We are just told to believe their romance is amazing and worth the constant betrayal of the main characters ... Poorly written in an awkward and distracting first person point of view.Author is never able to establish the central premise. These characters are supposed to have an intense, tragic romance that moves us to tears and sadness. But this is not portrayed by the book or characters. Rather, the author just tells us that it is an intense and tragic romance. She never convincingly shows us. The characters are unlikeable and selfish. Because of the first person point of view I never even remotely understood the main male character's motivations. The characters never have a serious discussion regarding their relationship. No depth whatsoever. We are just told to believe their romance is amazing and worth the constant betrayal of the main characters wonderful husband and children. Emotional and physical adultery are portrayed as hopelessly romantic. Finished and could not have cared less about the "tragic" ending. Last punch of the book was Lucy ruining her third son's life with another first person (lol) letter saying what an amazing guy Gabe was.hurt a man who had done nothing but love her. If she had truly loved Gabe I found the book ok, but I have to say that I think that is biased because of my age. I thought Gabe was a selfish prick who did not care about the havoc he wrought in Lucy's personal life. He cared about people but only from afar. Lucy was willing to ruin her family, cause upheaval in her children's lives, hurt a man who had done nothing but love her. If she had truly loved Gabe, she would have left with him the first time. Now that is from a perspective of 66 years. If I was 23, I would have loved this book. So go figure.

Photoshop for Lightroom Users Download

ISBN: B07L9DT13L
Title: Photoshop for Lightroom Users Pdf Photoshop for Lightroom Us

Adobe Photoshop Lightroom is truly an awesome program, and the primary editing tool for so many photographers today. But, at some point, you realize that there are things you need to do to your images that Lightroom just can’t do. It could be anything from pro-level portrait retouching, to blending two or more images together, to incredible special effects, to removing distracting things in your image, to adding beautiful type to your images, and, well…there are just lots of incredible things you could do…if you just knew Photoshop.

Adobe Photoshop is…well…it’s Photoshop—this huge, amazing, Swiss Army knife of a program with 70+ tools, and more than a hundred filters. So, compared to Lightroom it seems really complicated, and it could be, but you’ve got a secret weapon: Scott Kelby. He’s the same guy who wrote the world’s #1 best-selling book on Lightroom, he’s Editor and Publisher of Photoshop User magazine and Lightroom Magazine, and he’s here to teach you just the most important, most useful parts of Photoshop—just the stuff that Lightroom can’t already do. Once you learn these techniques (all covered in this short, quick, easy-to-use, plain-English guide), it opens a whole new world of productivity and creativity.

Here’s what you’ll learn:

  • Scott tells you flat-out which tools to use, which techniques work best, which ones to avoid, and why. You only really need about 20% of what Photoshop can do, and that 20% is all covered right in this book.

  • The most important layer techniques, and learning layers is like being handed the keys to the candy store—this is where the fun begins, and you’ll be amazed at what you’ll be able to do, so quickly and easily.
  • Scott’s favorite (and most useful) portrait retouching techniques; his favorite special effects for landscape, travel, and people photos; plus which filters are awesome (and which ones waste your time).

  • Also, you’ll learn how to mask hair and create super-realistic composites (you’ll be amazed when you learn how easy this is), plus how to take advantage of all the latest Photoshop technology, how to leverage the latest features (so you’re doing things the easy way), and a bunch of today’s most popular techniques (the same commercial looks you’re seeing in hot demand), so you’ll be using Photoshop like a shark in no time.

If you’ve been saying to yourself, “Ya know, I really should learn Photoshop,” you’re holding the absolute best book to get you there, coming from the guy who literally wrote the book on Lightroom. He knows how to help you make the most of using these two powerful tools together to take your images (and your fun) to the next level. You are going to love being a Photoshop shark!

Check it out at your local bookseller first I am a huge Kelby fan and purchase many of his books. For the money you are bette off buying one of the other best selling photoshop books including Kelby's. This book is thin on pages and thin on content for the price. I recommend you take a look at your bookseller before you invest in this volume.

Data Visualization Download

ISBN: 0691181624
Title: Data Visualization Pdf A Practical Introduction
Author: Kieran Healy
Published Date: 2018-12-18
Page: 296

“Finally! A data visualization guide that is simultaneously practical and elegant. Healy combines the beauty and insight of Tufte with the concrete helpfulness of Stack Exchange. Data Visualization is brimming with insights into how quantitative analysts can use visualization as a tool for understanding and communication. A must-read for anyone who works with data.”―Elizabeth Bruch, University of Michigan“Healy’s fun and readable book is unusual in covering the ‘why do’ as well as the ‘how to’ of data visualization, demonstrating how dataviz is a key step in all stages of social science―from theory construction to measurement to modeling and interpretation of analyses―and giving readers the tools to integrate visualization into their own work.”―Andrew Gelman, author of Red State, Blue State, Rich State, Poor State: Why Americans Vote the Way They Do“Data Visualization is a brilliant book that not only teaches the reader how to visualize data but also carefully considers why data visualization is essential for good social science. The book is broadly relevant, beautifully rendered, and engagingly written. It is easily accessible for students at any level and will be an incredible teaching resource for courses on research methods, statistics, and data visualization. It is packed full of clear-headed and sage insights.”―Becky Pettit, University of Texas at Austin“Healy provides a unique introduction to the process of visualizing quantitative data, offering a remarkably coherent treatment that will appeal to novices and advanced analysts alike. There is no other book quite like this.”―Thomas J. Leeper, London School of Economics“Kieran Healy has written a wonderful book that fills an important niche in an increasingly crowded landscape of materials about software in R. Data Visualization is clear, beautifully formatted, and full of careful insights.”―Brandon Stewart, Princeton University“Healy’s prose is clear and direct. I came away from this book with a much better understanding of both visualizations and R.”―Neal Caren, University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill“Innovative and extraordinarily well-written.”―Jeremy Freese, Stanford University Kieran Healy is associate professor of sociology at Duke University. He is the author of Last Best Gifts: Altruism and the Market for Human Blood and Organs.

An accessible primer on how to create effective graphics from data

This book provides students and researchers a hands-on introduction to the principles and practice of data visualization. It explains what makes some graphs succeed while others fail, how to make high-quality figures from data using powerful and reproducible methods, and how to think about data visualization in an honest and effective way.

Data Visualization builds the reader’s expertise in ggplot2, a versatile visualization library for the R programming language. Through a series of worked examples, this accessible primer then demonstrates how to create plots piece by piece, beginning with summaries of single variables and moving on to more complex graphics. Topics include plotting continuous and categorical variables; layering information on graphics; producing effective “small multiple” plots; grouping, summarizing, and transforming data for plotting; creating maps; working with the output of statistical models; and refining plots to make them more comprehensible.

Effective graphics are essential to communicating ideas and a great way to better understand data. This book provides the practical skills students and practitioners need to visualize quantitative data and get the most out of their research findings.

  • Provides hands-on instruction using R and ggplot2
  • Shows how the “tidyverse” of data analysis tools makes working with R easier and more consistent
  • Includes a library of data sets, code, and functions

Highly recommended If you like ggplot (who doesn’t?), this book not only tells you how but more importantly why. Very clear explanations.Excellent guide for beginners and experts alike In the preface to the Data Visualization: A Practical Introduction author Kieran Healy writes:My main goal is to introduce you to both the ideas and the methods of data visualization in a sensible, comprehensible, reproducible way.Well, mission accomplished. The book is at once enormously readable, and sufficiently technically detailed as to make it easy to implement the principles introduced. The book itself is also beautifully designed. The use of figures and margin notes give you a sense of being guided through the ideas rather than just being told what they are. I've had lots of fun going back to some of my own visualizations made with R and ggplot2 and improving them based on what I learned here.I absolutely recommend this to beginners and experts alike. Healy gives you everything you'd need to know if you're starting from scratch, but in such a way as to not slow things down for the more experienced reader. For that reason, it would also make a great book for a course on applied use of R.Perfect introduction to Data Visualization This book is the first I've seen (ranging from the Edward Tufte gospels to O'Reilly handbooks) to strike a solid balance between both the theory and practice of data visualization. While the practical examples and code are for use with R and GGPlot (preferred platforms across a wide swath of the scientific community anyways), the principles you'll learn, both about handling data and about the "visual display of quantitative information" will obtain in any setting and data visualization platform.

Wildflower Heart (The Wildflower House Book 1) Free Pdf

ISBN: B07FFWT2GG
Title: Wildflower Heart (The Wildflower House Book 1) Pdf

From the bestselling author of The Memory of Butterflies comes the first in a bittersweet series about love and loss.

Kara Hart was scarred by loss—first the loss of her mother and now her husband. She feels broken, with no will to move forward, until her father does the unexpected: he moves to the Virginia countryside to restore an old Victorian mansion. Kara decides to go with him, telling herself that it will only be temporary.

The huge house is neglected and derelict, but Kara discovers its breathtaking field of wildflowers and is stunned by their beauty. The house, the grounds, and the quirky neighbors—including a handsome one—are almost as fascinating as her father’s sudden willingness to discuss her mother and his own secret past.

Kara is finding her new normal when tragedy strikes again, forcing her to make difficult choices. Will she go back to her old life and risk losing all she has gained? Or will she face her fears and give herself the opportunity to grow?

Life is like a Wildflower Wildflower Heart....a story about Kara and the pieces of her life.... broken, lost, and missing after a devastating admission from her husband and then in the aftermath of a tragedy. Grace Greene used wildflowers to weave a story about a hurting, confused and uncertain woman and how life is like a wildflower. "Wildflowers are tough...….wildflowers are fragile.....wildflowers grow where the seeds find themselves.....wildflowers are beautiful for a season."This book has a beautiful message about resilience and picking up when life can seem to be too heavy to endure. I love the character of Kara. She was someone I wanted to reach out to and be there for. My heart ached for the things she was going through. How tough life seemed to get and bending her over to almost breaking. But, like a wildflower she would lift herself back up and face what was ahead. There was a passage about Kara thinking, "I was a lot like those wildflowers. Accidental. Hapless. But strong and resilient once I dug in."Ms. Greene took me into a setting that was brought to life in her descriptive words. I was in the wildflower field feeling the way Kara was feeling. The light breeze, the warm sunshine, the colorful flowers swaying in the wind, the bubbling brook along the edge of the field, an old house and the musty, peeling wallpaper. So much imagery in written words. I appreciate that I could "see" so much in my mind from her storytelling talent. She puts all of that together into a story that had me turning the pages long into the night. It's a beautiful first book in the Wildflower House series. I am so looking forward to the second book.I want to thank Grace Greene and Netgalley for the honor and opportunity to read this wonderfully touching book. I highly recommend it and it is a five star story for sure!A beautiful story that will pull you in Wildflower Heart is the first in book in the Wildflower House series by Grace Greene, and also the first book I have read by this author. As soon as I started reading I wondered how I could have missed reading any of her books before, and I was glad Wildflower Heart was the first of a new series because now I have so much to look forward to. As well as catching up with Greene’s other books, of course!Wildflower Heart is Kara’s story. But it’s so much more than that. It’s the story of her mother who leaves, her husband who dies, and her father who has always been present but distant and suddenly reveals a new, surprising side and history. And it’s about the wildflowers. The beautiful wildflowers at the broken-down, neglected house her father has bought that take Kara’s breath away.Kara was in a terrible accident. She’s recovering slowly both emotionally and physically and has never really gotten over life’s losses. She’s not ready to return to normal, whatever that is, and get back into the everyday world to make her place. The move with her father is intended to be temporary, but once again life happens.Wildflower Heart is a beautiful story, about loss and love and emotional support and family and friends both new and old. The sense of romance will envelop you. The writing is excellent, with characters so well developed and fascinating that you can’t wait to learn their secrets. The pace of the story is smooth. It’s not a thriller full of suspense, but there are many twists and turns and unexpected reveals, so much so that I could not put the book down; I just did not want to leave this place and these characters. And the wildflowers – the description of them is so vivid you feel you are standing in the field, mesmerized by their beauty.I received an advance copy of Wildflower Heart from the author via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I loved Kara’s story. Grace Greene leaves the door very satisfactorily open for many things to happen as the series moves along, and I can’t wait for the next book to find out what comes next.Heartwarming story Wildflower HeartBy Grace GreeneThis was my first read from the Author, Grace Greene. Not familiar with her ministry but having known the story took place so close to home, I was intrigued to read it. A native close to the Richmond/Charlottesville, VA area, Grace really captured the beauty of the mountains, the nature and it's flowers and the surrounding landmarks throughout the story that we have here. With a heroine experiencing such a tragic loss, I related to Kara in a lot of ways. Her character was warm, gentle and caring of all people. Her self esteem was low and the story Grace had given her, not only helped her grow but gave her an inner peace that she was where God wanted her in her life. Kara had a hard life and I loved how family and being close to family was woven into the story. I highly recommend this book as the read made you cry, made you smile and laugh and kept you wanting more. Thank you Grace and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this. This review is my own opinion of the book.
